rag & bone is looking for a Development and Production Manager to manage the development through production execution of the Men’s RTW business. The PM will partner with Design and Merchandising to be the conduit for communicating out Design’s seasonal styles, concepts and techniques into saleable garments while simultaneously achieving the categories’ IMU goals and timeline. The PM will oversee and develop the Product Management Associate’s skill sets.
Responsibilities: Development & Production
In partnership with VP of Development and Production, build department development calendar
Communicate out key dates and deadlines to cross functional partners and vendors
Develop best practices to ensure that internal teams and vendors meet deadlines
Troubleshoot and communicate any potential risks and delays to cross functional teams
Build and maintain seasonal WIP with the support of the Development and Production Assistant
Partner with Design to ensure all details are laid out and communicated prior to season’s start
Review design concepts and confirm feasibility for production
Issue appropriate trials as needed for bulk approval (wash tests, technique execution, color approvals)
Work with Fabric R&D/Trim Team to ensure sample fabrics and trims are available and shipped to vendors
Continually review allocation to ensure department and vendor sourcing strategy is met
Report and communicate development ratios at every milestone to ensure seasonal budget is maintained
Partner with vendors, designers, TD and sample room to ensure Proto, SMS, PP, TOP deadlines are met
Collaborate with internal partners to ensure that BOM, Tech Packages and POs are accurate throughout development 69!!
Collect and monitor booking dates for seasonal fabrics
Position fabrics as needed with vendors, with the assistance of the Development and Production Assistant
Review/Confirm final buys with internal partners
Monitor seasonal liability materials and propose uses for future seasons
Issue and maintain seasonal POs
Monitor production and ensure on time deliveries and quality standards are maintained
Costing Management
Maintain costing in our ERP systems throughout development and production
Present costing at all development and production milestones
Identify and troubleshoot costing challenges in partnership with Design and Merchandising
Negotiate best cost on a style level with vendors
Work to identify and platform franchise fabrics with cross functional partners and vendors
Develop costing skills of Development and Production Assistant
Developing Vendor Relationships
Foster relationships with vendors
Communicate business needs to factories
Manage daily communication with vendors with the support of the Associate
Evaluate vendors’ performance and make recommendations on sourcing matrix to VP of Production and Development
Continually communicate and reinforce Design’s aesthetic and company’s quality standards
Ensuring Quality Standards
Develop understanding of quality standards and partner with factories and raw material vendors to ensure quality standards are being met
Troubleshoot potential risks, evaluate course of action to prevent future incidents
Develop understanding of technical construction and partner with TD to ensure garment is sound
Test garments that are potential risks through counter sourcing exercises
Ongoing Development of Leadership Skills
Foster and maintain strong cross functional relationships with Design, Merchandising and Technical Design.
Balance process and people management
Lead, coach and develop direct reports through routine performance conversations
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion or equivalent, preferred
5 year’s experience of Production and/or Product Development for a Fashion company
Woven apparel experience
Exceptional knowledge of product development and production cycle timelines.
Solution oriented, critical thinker with ability to balance multiple projects and priorities.
Highly detail oriented with outstanding follow up and follow through
Proactive approach to anticipate issues and provide solutions
Flexible/adaptable to work in a highly collaborative environment
