Job Summary:
rag & bone is looking for a Sr. Manager of FP&A (Gross Margin) to own the analytical foundation that drives product cost intelligence across the company. This is a high-impact role where you will define the frameworks, processes, and reporting infrastructure that give leadership a clear view of what is driving gross margin at both the product and channel level. You will work directly with senior leaders across merchandise planning, production and sourcing, logistics, and accounting -- and your work will shape how the company understands and manages one of its most important financial levers.
Responsibilities:
- Own the end-to-end gross margin analytics framework for the company, covering product cost components (e.g., product cost, freight, duties and tariffs, seasonal development costs), channel-level dynamics across DTC and wholesale, and actual vs. standard cost variance
- Build and maintain reporting infrastructure that gives leadership a consistent, actionable view of gross margin drivers at the product and channel level
- Establish and run the standard cost evaluation cycle: propose cost updates on a defined cadence, quantify the P&L impact, and partner with accounting on implementation
- Develop a structured process for tracking seasonal development costs across the product lifecycle, partnering with production and sourcing to ensure data is accurate and complete
- Own the freight and duty/tariff cost model, in partnership with logistics, flagging risks and opportunities as they emerge
- Translate gross margin analysis into a point of view -- not just variance reports, but a clear narrative on what is driving the numbers and what leadership should do about it; this includes preparing gross margin bridges and cost risk scenarios for senior leadership discussions
- Identify process gaps in how cost data is captured, routed, and used across systems; propose and implement improvements in partnership with cross-functional teams and accounting
Requirements:
- Direct experience with standard costing methodology: how standard costs are set, how variances are calculated, and how changes flow through the P&L
- Meaningful experience in product cost analysis, gross margin analytics, or a comparable function at a consumer products or fashion/apparel company
- Demonstrated ability to build financial models and reporting frameworks from scratch, not just maintain existing ones
- Experience working directly with merchandise planning, sourcing/production, and logistics teams -- this role requires credibility with operators, not just finance colleagues
- 6+ years of relevant finance experience
- Advanced Excel proficiency; the ability to build and own complex models independently
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present findings clearly to senior leaders across the organization
Preferred:
- Experience at a brand that sells through both DTC and wholesale channels, with an understanding of how channel mix affects gross margin
- Familiarity with freight, duty, and tariff cost structures, including the analytical implications of tariff volatility
- Experience with ERP systems in a manufacturing or product-cost context (D365 or equivalent)
- Exposure to BI or data visualization tools, including MicroStrategy or Power BI
- Curiosity about AI and a willingness to experiment with new tools and approaches to improve analytical workflows
